Ireland's Investor Immigration Programme: A Comprehensive Guide for Global Entrepreneurs

Ireland, a vibrant and dynamic economy at the heart of Europe, has long been an attractive destination for international businesses and high-net-worth individuals. Its strategic location, pro-business environment, highly educated workforce, and membership in the European Union have made it a gateway for global enterprises. For those seeking residency and a pathway to a European future, Ireland's Investor Immigration Programme (IIP), colloquially known as the 'Golden Visa,' offered a compelling opportunity. While the programme officially closed to new applications in February 2023, understanding its structure, the reasons for its popularity, and the implications of its closure is crucial for anyone considering investment-based immigration options in Ireland or elsewhere.

  2. Investment Fund: A minimum investment of €1 million into an approved investment fund for at least three years. These funds had to be regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and focus on investing in Irish businesses and projects. This option appealed to investors seeking a more diversified and professionally managed approach.

  3. Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT): A minimum investment of €2 million into an Irish REIT for a period of at least three years. REITs are companies that own, operate, or finance income-producing real estate. This option provided exposure to Ireland's property market.

  4. Endowment: A minimum philanthropic donation of €500,000 to a public project benefiting the arts, sports, health, cu
